RE: Spring Cup 2008

Building on the success of the Spring Cup in 2007, the tournament has one change for 2008. Starting this year, teams can now declare their choice of play day (weekend or weekday) independent of what other teams from your club choose. Each club will be able to send as many two-women teams as they can field. This tournament will have multiple rounds, starting in early May. After each round, half of the field will be eliminated. The half with the lowest net scores will continue on to the next week.  The SNEWGA representative will need to get the teams signed up, and send the team information to Marianne Roggemann. The rep no longer needs to find people to play each week. If any team needs to find a substitute for any week's play, it is the team's responsibility to find a replacement.

If your club plans to participate this year, please submit sign up sheets for both your club and your teams to Marianne Roggemann.  Please indicate on theclub sign up sheet whether your team(s) wants to play on weekdays or weekends. Teams can declare day of play independent of other teams from their club. However, once
a team declares their day of play, they cannot change it.

If you have any questions, please contact Marianne Roggemann.

SpringCup

Format

    • It is a 2-person better ball NET tournament.  Half the field will advance after each round, based on the lowest scores.
    • Each club can send as many teams as they want.  All teams must go through the SNEWGA Rep. Substitutes can be made over the course of the tournament.
    • Once a player (as a player or a sub) has been eliminated in any round, that player cannot be a substitute on a team that is still playing
    • The teams will be divided into Regions depending on the number of teams, number of clubs, and the play day (weekend versus weekday).
    • The tournament is anticipated to run 4-5 weeks starting in early May.
    • The Region winners will participate in the semi-final. The two final teams will play for the championship in a match play format.
    • The final round will be played on a weekend at a neutral site.
